David Wiss is the Volunteer Coordinator at Beacon of Hope Hospice and a native of Independence, Missouri. He joined Beacon of Hope in April 2024 following more than 30 years of military, aviation, and operations management experience. David served 21 years in the United States Air Force, retiring honorably in 2009 after a career that included more than a dozen deployments to Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He later served as a civilian Unit Program Coordinator for the 13th Bomb Squadron at Whiteman AFB and as a Flight Operations Manager for L3Harris supporting Department of Defense missions. David is also an active Freemason and has served as Worshipful Master of both McDonald Lodge No. 324 and Independence Lodge No. 76. Having experienced hospice care through both of his parents, David brings a personal understanding of hospice and a strong commitment to serving patients, families, volunteers, and his community.
